Sardinia: exploring the west coast

In October 2019 we spent 11 days travelling around Sardinia, concentrating on the west coast, and we simply loved it!

In total we drove over 1000 km in Sardenia, plus around 1600 km to reach Livorno, and back to Munich. We took the overnight ferry from Livorno to Olbia.

Day 1:  Munich – Pavia (Italy)

Day 3: Olbia – Stintino

Day 7: Piscinas – Portu Maga

Day 8: Portu Maga – Capoterra (Cagliari)

Overnight: Capoterra, in the parking area of Spiaggia La Maddalena, near the American Beach kiosk

Day 9 and 10: Capoterra – Sant’Antioco Island

Tour of the island, lunch at a very scenic spot (N 38°58’7″, E 8°26’28”)

Day 11: Sant’Antioco – Sciviu

Scenic drive with several stops to see Pan di Zucchero, Buggerru, San Nicoló beach.

Overnight: Area Sosta Sciviu beach (N 39.49450, E 8.41350; N 39°29’40”, E 8°24’49”)

Day 12: Sciviu – Alghero (via Mari Ermi)

Overnight: Alghero, Parcheggio Comunale, Via Corsica, 07041 Alghero (closed on Wednesdays due to local market)

  1. Your images are gorgeous, especially San Nicolo Beach. Oh, how I would love to be strolling that pretty shore, but only if I was sure I wouldn’t catch the virus that is tearing us all apart. Thanks for dreamy pictures in a locale I may never see.
